    Membership Information

Full membership (for cattle breeders & non-breeders) costs £50 per year & entitles you to register a herd prefix with the Society, cast one vote in any ballots held, received one copy of the Herd Book & newsletter when they are produced & utilise our Beef Certification Mark to certify the provenance of your purebred Gloucester beef to your customers. You will also receive occasional email updates on various topics, including cattle for sale & events such as shows & sales & you can buy straws of semen from “members only” AI bulls.

With your herd prefix you can pedigree register the purebred offspring of any pedigree cows & bulls you have. Doing this enables the breed to continue to thrive & protects its future, as well as guaranteeing the pedigree status of your cattle.

Life membership (for breeders & non-breeders) is available for a one-off payment of £1000 & offers all of the benefits listed above.

Associate membership (for non-breeders) costs £30 per year & entitles you to cast one vote in any ballots held, receive a copy of the GCS newsletter quarterly. You will also receive occasional email updates on various topics, including cattle for sale & events such as shows & sales.

Junior Members (for under 18s) is free of charge. You will receive a copy of the GCS quarterly newsletter.

The Society is helping the Gloucester breed to find its place in modern agriculture, as well as supporting those members who keep Gloucesters purely for the enjoyment they bring.

We hold 1-2 workshops per year on topics which may be of interest or benefit to the members; recently we have learnt about cattle conformation & linear classification.

We also have a breed stand at the Royal Three Counties Show, where we award trophies won in the showing classes & encourage members to drop in for refreshments & a chat.
